This is a version of the heart opening fire phase exercise from the Baduanjin/Eight Brocade classical qigong set. You might have tried other versions – so what is similar and what is different?

Only bend the knees as far as is pain-free to you – it can be hard but should not hurt. Focus your intent on the upper chest lifting as you follow the inbreath.

In the part when you are twisting to the side, focus on the opposition of the hand pushing the other way – the little finger, opening the heart channel.
