Qigong for lung & large intestine
Share
This exercise for the lungs – Draw The Bow, Shoot The Tiger – is from the Baduanjin/Eight Brocade classical qigong set. As well as boosting the immune system and opening the chest and shoulders, the breathing involved can help to calm you down.
As you breathe in, notice your whole ribcage expanding – and then sinking and grounding as you breathe out. Try to maintain the opposition in the four directions – up and down, left and right – as you step and ‘draw the bow’.
At the end of the outbreath, have your intent on lengthening the thumb and index finger upwards, with a slightly flexed elbow, to stimulate the lung channel all the way along to the torso.
Enjoy the way it feels for you!
