Acu. is all yours

Acu. online is a magazine put together for and by BAcC Members. We are a community of thought – a platform for knowledge sharing and debate – fuelled by your ideas and contributions.

You create it

Every quarter we like to start with a theme – something topical, acupuncture related, multifaceted, stimulating – to get the creative juices flowing. The theme goes out by email and we wait to see what comes back.

We welcome all sorts – written articles, reviews, opinion pieces, blogs, poetry, photos, artwork, podcasts, videos – whatever you want to share. Sometimes we include communications from the BAcC office and Governing Board.

We shape it

After a few weeks the editorial team – mostly BAcC Members – meet to collate whatever you’ve sent and collect other pieces relevant to our clinical practice. From start to finish we rely on our list of editorial values to keep us all on track.

Every member of the BAcC can find a voice on the Acu. platform – practising, students, overseas, non-practising – the invitation is open to everyone via editor@acupuncture.org.uk

Our guidelines for submissions will give you the nitty-gritty. And if you have something to say but you’re not quite sure how, one of the editorial team can help you work your thoughts into a finished piece.

Editorial values

Community
We aim to facilitate debate and the sharing of news, opinions, articles, learning and information for all.

Support
We try to include material with practical use for professional acupuncture practice.

Diversity
We seek to explore the many traditions and strands of practice present in our membership as well as covering other health matters relevant to acupuncture.

Freedom and debate
We recognise the right of all BAcC Members to air their views and to challenge the views of other individuals and/or organisations where appropriate.

Accuracy and fairness
We strive to be accurate and fair in what we publish. We will be open in admitting our mistakes and do our best to rectify them.

Submissions

  • we suggest you write as much as your subject matter demands – and probably no more than 2,500 words
  • we encourage you to write in an accessible and jargon-free style
  • we do not usually include references and citations
  • we strongly encourage the inclusion of images and hyperlinks
  •  please give authorship and captions for all images
  • images should be sent as separate files, in as high resolution as possible
  • feel free to include a short biography – a couple of lines – and personal photograph to accompany article submissions
  • we may edit for length or clarity with permission of the author
