Supporting Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 – Acupuncture for Mental Health

Mental Health Health Awareness Week 2025 - Research

This week 12 – 18 May 2025, is Mental Health Awareness Week, and we are focusing on how traditional acupuncture, as practised by our highly qualified practitioners, can help those in our community experiencing mental health issues.

Our Research and Policy Manager, Ian Appleyard talks us through the evidence base for acupuncture in relation to mental health.

Ian also explores a flagship acupuncture project serving people needing mental health support in an NHS primary care network, and run by BAcC Members in Gloucester, UK. This ground-breaking service has been helping patients with depression, anxiety, and addiction problems and making a hugely positive impact in their community.

As a member you can let us know in the comments if you feel acupuncture has a role to play in assisting with the growing mental health crisis.  Check out our resources on NHS integration and the Inner Gloucester project on our website.
