Moxa; its origins and relation to acupuncture

This webinar is open to all members. It is the first instalment of a three-part webinar series for our Let’s talk about…Moxa campaign

Moxa; its origins and relation to acupuncture
Speaker: Merlin Young
Moxa is regrettably relatively neglected in general acupuncture training in the UK and so its clinical potential is perhaps underestimated. This talk is intended to start to put an end to this! At times a little controversially, but hopefully with reasonable substantiation at all times, this webinar will identify how crucial early moxa therapy was to the origins of acupuncture (and particularly to channel theory), how intimately acupuncture and moxa belong together, and how (despite a frequent tendency over the centuries for it to be side-lined in favour of needling)  its power as a therapy is well documented historically in East Asia. Even if you are not that interested in the early history of our medicine, it’s hoped that this discussion will stimulate and provide food for thought that will positively impact on your practice.

Along with Jenny Craig (who is presenting the third of the moxa-focused webinars) Merlin Young is co-founder of the Moxafrica charity. He is also author of ‘the Moon over Matsushima – Insights into Moxa and Mugwort’. He has presented on moxa in Europe, Canada, China, Japan and Australia.
